Leona LaVerne Schneider, 83, died on September 11, 2007 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. Leona was born February 19, 1924 at Bison, Kansas, the daughter of Jess B. and Martha Foos Hopkins. On August 21, 1942 she married Bernard A. Schneider at Olmitz, Kansas. They were divorced. She was a homemaker and cleaned businesses and individual homes. She was a resident of the Olmitz area for 63 years, coming from Bison. Leona is survived by a daughter, Janice Brack and husband, Alan of Bison, Kansas; four grandchildren, Jodi Romeiser and husband, Duane, Scott Brack and wife, Jeana, Jessica Feldhausen and husband, Rusty and Tyler Schneider; five great-grandchildren, Spencer and Brielle Romeiser and Carley, Cailyn, and Colton Brack. She was preceded in death by her son, Bernard Clair "Bud" Schneider on September 10, 2007; an infant brother, Glenn Hopkins and recently a brother Jerry Hopkins. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Interment will be at LaCrosse Cemtery, LaCrosse, Kansas. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family to receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 14, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Great Bend Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
