Leona M. (Huschka) Klein, 90, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at her home in rural Ellinwood. She was born March 21, 1922 at rural Sts. Peter and Paul, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Frenzl) Huschka. Leona was a homemaker, farmer's wife and a lifelong area resident. She was a former member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and a current member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society both in Claflin. Leona was also a trustee for Sts. Peter and Paul Church Heritage Association. On June 27, 1945 she married Lawrence F. Klein at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, north of Ellinwood. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2004. Survivors include one son, Reverend Pascal Klein of LaCrosse, Kansas; one daughter, Simone Klein of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Martin Huschka of Garden City, Kansas; one sister, Evelyn Behr of Hoisington, Kansas; three grandchildren, Mychala, Kandece and Bryce. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; six brothers, Frank, Leonard, Albert, Edward, Leroy, and Eugene Huschka and three sisters, Frances Sessler, Marie Doll and Ida Rziha. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, north of Ellinwood with Father Pascal Klein as celebrant. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with vigil service starting at 7:00 p.m. all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, Kansas.
