Leona Marie Dinges Herl Burnett, 89, died January 14, 2008 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born July 4, 1918 at Schoenchen, Kansas, the daughter of Carl and Christina Dreher Dinges. She married Jacob Herl July 2, 1935 at Schoenchen, Kansas. He died in 1965. She married Irven Burnett July 17, 1976 at Great Bend, Kansas. He died April 5, 2005. Mrs. Burnett was a homemaker and an assistant manager of the TG&Y store in Great Bend. She was a Great Bend resident since 1942, coming from Hays, Kansas. Mrs. Burnett was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Donald L. Herl and wife, Henrietta, Salina, Kansas; one daughter, Almeda Jurgensen and husband, Merle, Great Bend, Kansas; one brother, Wendlin "Buddy" Dinges, Hays, Kansas; two sisters, Henrietta Houser, Great Bend, Kansas, and Elizabeth Wolf, Florida; eight grandchildren, Eddie Jurgensen and wife, Cindy, Great Bend, Kansas, Brad Jurgensen, St. Joseph, Missouri, Brett Jurgensen and wife, Pricella, Safford, Arizona, Kimberly Jackson, Salina, Kansas, Danna Armes and husband, Frank, Salina, Kansas, Derion Herl and wife, Barbara, Salina, Kansas, Jody Imler, Topeka, Kansas, and Brandon Herl and wife, Michell, McKinney, Texas; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Brandi, Chelsea, Kyla, Katelyn, Andrew, Drew, Hannah, Hayley, Tara, Cody, Travis, Des A Raie, Scott, Donald, Ryan, Tiffany, Amber, Shana, Showna, Cailin, and Kelsey; and nine great-great-grandchildren, Korbin, Parker, Connor, Domonic, Dalton, Donald, McKayla, Gretchen, and Christopher. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alec Dinges and Tony Dinges; and five sisters, Fina Pfiefer, Cecilia Shoemaker, Florentine Rathbun, Bella Koerner, and Frannie Koerner. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2008 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, Kansas, with Father Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008 and from 9:00 a.m. until noon, Friday, January 18, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.
