Lennie "Boots" Hughbanks, 97, died November 9, 2012 at Sterling House of Great Bend, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born April 17, 1915 at Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Willard and Ellas (Stoops) Anderson. She married Hanley Gene Hughbanks January 7, 1946 at Brewton, Alabama. He died September 29, 1988. A Great Bend resident since 1968, coming from Pratt, she had been employed by JC Penney, Co., as the catalog department supervisor, retiring in 1980. Mrs. Hughbanks was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pratt, and was a member of the CKMC Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons: Ron Hughbanks and his wife Linda, Omaha, Nebraska; and Steve Hughbanks, Denton, Texas; two grandchildren: David Hughbanks and his wife Clara, Plymouth, Minnesota; and Rachel Hughbanks, Bedford, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Alexandra "Sasha" Hughbanks, Plymouth, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by Steve's wife, Jeri Hughbanks. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
