Lawrence A. Minson, 85, died March 16, 2009 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. He was born March 19, 1923 at Denver, Colorado, the son of Elbert and Alice (Miller) Minson. He married Dorothy Kramer May 26, 1942 at Hoisington, Kansas. A longtime Hoisington resident, Mr. Minson was a retired field superintendent for Exxon, retiring in 1986. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Minson was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #286, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7428, all of Hoisington. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Minson, Hoisington, Kansas; two sons: Mike Minson and wife, Judy, Boerne, Texas; and Gary Minson and wife, Joyce, Abilene, Kansas; three daughters: Ann Lindquist and husband, Jay, Great Bend, Kansas; D. J. Baird and husband, Dean, Hoisington, Kansas; and Sara Dutton and husband, Gary, Salina, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Hoisington, with the Reverend Mark Lovett officiating. Burial with military graveside rites VFW #7428 and American Legion Post #286 will be in Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to service time, Thursday at the church. Memorials in Mr. Minson's name have been established with Concordia Lutheran Church or Kans for Kids, both in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
