Lawrence Joseph
Boor
Nov 24, 1942 — Feb 22, 2025
Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Boor, 82, passed away February 22, 2025, at Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, Kansas. He was born on November 24, 1942, in Great Bend, Kansas to Mathias and Margaret (Axman) Boor. On May 5, 1966, he married Doreen Kuntz in Great Bend, Kansas. She passed on May 31, 2012.
A longtime resident of Great Bend, Larry was a devoted family man, a hard worker, and a cherished friend. Before settling in Great Bend, he briefly lived in Pratt, Kansas. He dedicated 46 years of his career to Mid-Continent LP Service before spending his remaining working years at Moeder Oil, retiring in 2012. He was also part-owner of Boor's BBQ and enjoyed catering many different events. Prior to his professional life, Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Larry was a devoted member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #2630, and the Propane Marketers of Kansas.
Larry found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid college basketball fan, always cheering for his beloved KU Jayhawks. He loved playing dominoes with his dear friends Dave, Connie and Jim Dunlap, tinkering in his shop—where he earned a reputation for being able to fix anything—and spending time with family, especially watching his grandchildren's activities.
Most mornings, Larry could be found sharing coffee and conversation with friends at Burger King. He was known for his grilling, his ever-present stash of Tootsie Rolls for his grandchildren, and his unwavering kindness. He never forgot a family member's birthday and made sure to send a card.
Above all, Larry was honest, loyal, and hardworking. He was a man of faith and a loving father and grandfather, and a man whom family and friends could rely on. His legacy of love, integrity, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
