Kevin Damein Gilbert, 18, died September 5, 2011 at his Great Bend, Kansas, home. He was born October 18, 1992 at Wichita, Kansas, the son of Scott Gilbert and Betsy Murphy. A lifetime Great Bend resident, living with his grandparents, he worked recently for Hendrick's Exotic Animal Farm. His passions included golfing, fishing, chess, four-wheeling, and target shooting. Survivors include his father, Scott Gilbert, Wichita; his mother, Betsy Murphy, Wichita; maternal grandparents, Charles Chism and Jerrie Breese, Great Bend; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Schnittker, Wenden, Arizona; great-grandparents: Jack and Millie Godin, Pawnee Rock, Kansas; three brothers: Kaedon Murphy, Viola, Arkansas; Dakota Murphy, Viola; and Devin Gilbert, Wichita; one sister, Shauna Stuhlsatz, Wichita; girlfriend, Samantha Marie Wilms, Great Bend; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Leon Schnittker. Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011 at First Church of God, 1224 Baker Ave., Great Bend. The Reverend Dick Ogle will officiate. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Kevin Gilbert Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
