Kent Darrell Hoss, 57, died February 20, 2011 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was born June 29, 1953 at Great Bend, the son of Paul and Dorothy Alice (Hall) Hoss. A Great Bend resident most of his life, Mr. Hoss was a carpenter and roofer. Mr. Hoss was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Survivors include his father, Paul Hoss, Great Bend; one daughter, Summer Rae Hoss, Great Bend; two brothers: Don Hoss and wife Anita, Overland Park, Kansas; and Tim Hoss and wife Debbie, Stafford, Kansas; five sisters: Paula Rixon and husband Kent, St. John, Kansas; Barbara Shirk and husband Layne, Great Bend; Deanna Martinez and husband Tony, Great Bend; Mary Alice Jones, Sterling, Kansas; and Jane Bowers and husband Robert, Ottawa, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hoss; and one infant brother, Danny Hoss. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 25, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Reginald A. Urban will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Seward, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Summer Hoss Education Fund or Holy Family School Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
