Kathryn "Katie" Saenz, 83, died December 8, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born November 13, 1928 at Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of Pedro and Maria (Bravo) Godinez. She married Joe A. Saenz September 8, 1947 at Lamar. He died September 29, 2001. A Great Bend, Kansas, resident since 1954, coming from Lamar, Mrs. Saenz was a cook for Holiday Inn, Highland Manor, and the Senior Center. Mrs. Saenz was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3111 Auxiliary, all of Great Bend. She was a Gold Star Mother. Survivors include four sons: Rito P. Saenz and his wife Jeannie, Topeka, Kansas; Michael Joe Saenz, Great Bend; Christopher Saenz and his wife Laura, Great Bend; and Manuel Palacio, Great Bend; three daughters: Julia L. Saenz-Self, Lawrence, Kansas; Ramona Webb and her husband Andy, Wichita; and Monica S. Ortega and her husband Len, LaCrosse, Kansas; one sister, Sarah Adame, Merced, California; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Edward Lloyd Saenz; four brothers; and four sisters. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m., and Vigil Service with Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend. Father Don Bedore will be celebrant. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the National Kidney Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
