Joyce Ann Bitter, 70, died May 23, 2011 at her Olmitz, Kansas, home. She was born August 17, 1940 at Barton County, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Isabel (Gerritzen) Riedel. She married Willard D. Bitter July 16, 1960 at Olmitz. He died September 3, 1985. A lifetime Olmitz resident, Mrs. Bitter was a retired housekeeper for Clara Barton Hospital. Mrs. Bitter was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Olmitz. Survivors include three sons: Todd Bitter and wife Leslie, Troy, Missouri; Craig Bitter, Midland, Texas; and David Bitter and wife Mary, Olmitz, Kansas; one daughter: Pam Elsen and husband Mark, Albert, Kansas; two sisters: Carolyn Heinz, Shawnee, Kansas; and Rose Menefee, Keller, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Terri Bitter; and three brothers, Bobby Riedel, Leonard Riedel, and Charles Riedel. Wake service will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church. Father Ultan Murphy will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at St. Ann Catholic Church.
