John A. Schremmer, 97, died June 19, 2011 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond, Missouri. He was born December 31, 1913 at Beaver, Kansas, the son of Alois and Caroline (Frenzl) Schremmer. He married Marie T. Hlavaty October 19, 1936 at Olmitz, Kansas. She died August 24, 2002. A longtime Beaver and Gorham, Kansas, resident, Mr. Schremmer was a farmer. Mr. Schremmer was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington; and was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Gorham; and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beaver. Survivors include two sons: Gaylyn Schremmer and wife Laura, Wichita, Kansas; and Stan Schremmer and wife Nancy, Gorham; two daughters: Connie Kay Pickert, Kansas City, Missouri; and Mary Jeanette Smith and husband Walt, Richmond, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ollie Schremmer, Albert Schremmer, and Oswald Schremmer; two sisters, Loretta Maxiner and Sister Miriam Schremmer, O. P.; and one grandson, John Michael Pickert. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Concelebrants will be Father Bob Schremmer and Father Francis Oroffa. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Beaver. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to St. Joseph Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
