John E. Richardson, 84, died October 17, 2009 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born October 13, 1925 at Richmond, California, the son of Paul and Ina (Paso) Richardson. He married Betty K. Bell July 10, 1949 at Duncan, Oklahoma. She died December 23, 2005. A resident of Great Bend since 1980, Mr. Richardson formerly worked for Haliburton and KVGB. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Richardson was a member of the First Christian Church, Great Bend, and the Grand Lodge - Delta Lodge #77, Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Survivors include one son: Glen Richardson; and three grandchildren, Jessica Richardson, Emma DeBell, and Allison DeBell. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Melanie DeBell and Phyllis Ann Richardson. Memorial service with military honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009 at First Christian Church, Great Bend. The Reverend William F. Johnson will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Richardson's name have been established with the Phyllis Richardson Memorial Fund at First Christian Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
