John J. Brown, 70, died March 27, 2012 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born April 30, 1941 at Old Bridge, New Jersey, the son of John and Ana (Schmidt) Brown. A Great Bend resident since 1972, coming from Wyoming, he owned a sheep ranch in Wyoming and worked for Stauffer Chemical, Green River, Wyoming. He was a welder for Marlette Homes and American Trailers in Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Gary Brown; one daughter, Kayanna Smith; two brothers, Joseph Garcia and Mike Brown; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathi; and one brother, Tom Brown. A memorial service will be at a later date. Inurnment will be in Chase Springdale Cemetery, Chase. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to Sunflower Diversified Services, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
