Joann G. Wunder, 85, died February 8, 2011 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born June 21, 1925 at rural Bison, Kansas, the daughter of Claus and Mary "Marie" (Scheuerman) Meier. She was baptized August 2, 1925 and confirmed June 18, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis. She was a 1942 graduate of Otis High School. She married John Wunder January 18, 1948 at Otis, Kansas. He died January 31, 1998. A Great Bend resident since 1996, coming from Bazine, Kansas, Mrs. Wunder was a homemaker. Mrs. Wunder was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Bazine and attended Our Savior Lutheran Church, Great Bend. Survivors include three sons: Larry Wunder and wife Linda, Arvada, Colorado; Lyle Wunder and wife Jane, Fairplay, Colorado; and Keith Wunder, Arvada; one sister: Maryleen Brown, Great Bend; one brother: Lowell "Red" Meier, Ellinwood, Kansas; two grandchildren: Kari Cartwright, Littleton, Colorado; and Kelly Wunder, Florida; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Ruth Johnson Meier; and one sister, Wanda Kayartz. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Reverend Garry Dassow will officiate. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the LaCrosse City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the funeral home.
