Joan C. Jo Rosenbaum, 67, died August 30, 2011, at Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth, Kansas. She was born April 14, 1944, at Great Bend, Kansas to Andrew John and Bessie Ruth (Griffin) Dueser. She was a hairdresser at Westgate Beauty Salon. Mrs. Rosenbaum was a lifetime Great Bend, Kansas resident, attending Pawnee Rock public schools, graduating in 1962. She played trumpet in marching band, pep band, concert band, and dance band. She graduated from Sydneys Hairdressing College in 1963, working as an owner and hairdresser for forty years. She also worked part-time at Medicine Shoppe for fifteen years. She was a member of Barton Community College Booster Club Board for three years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying Barton Community College athletics. On June 2, 1969, she married Gary Rodger Rosenbaum in Miami, Oklahoma. He died November 13, 1973. Survivors include one son, Brent R. Rosenbaum, Great Bend; one daughter, Shawnda Heimerman and husband Jim, Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Colyn Heimerman, Kirstyn Heimerman and Taitlyn Heimerman; one nephew, Terry Dueser, Wichita; one niece, Shelly Herring and husband Paul, Frontenac, Kansas; and beloved dog, Jordan. She was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Lee Dueser. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Reverend James A. Strasen, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Great Bend Cemetery North, Great Bend. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association, in care the funeral home.
