Jim Lee Fertig, 62, died April 28, 2010 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born January 31, 1948 at Larned, Kansas, the son of Earl V. and Betty Jane (Brown) Fertig. He married Eleanor L. DeBusk October 9, 1982 at Great Bend, Kansas. A lifetime Stafford and Pawnee County resident, Mr. Fertig was a mechanic for the City of Great Bend Park Department for twenty-two years. Mr. Fertig was a member of First United Methodist Church, Great Bend, and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor L. Fertig, of the home; one daughter, Amanda Lee Fertig, Abilene, Kansas; one step-son, Matt DeBusk and wife Mindy, Coldwater, Kansas; one brother, Jeff Fertig and wife Evelyn, Garfield, Kansas; one step-grandson, David Joseph DeBusk, Coldwater, Kansas; three nephews; and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sarah Jane Fertig. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Great Bend. The Reverend Tom Sheldon will officiate. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2010 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Abilene United Methodist Church Youth Fund, in care of the funeral home.
