Jeanne Louise Schmitt, 70, died Sept. 6 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Born Aug. 31, 1944 at Winfield, she was the daughter of Raymond Chandler and Helen Ruth (Westin) Muret. She married Terryl "Terry" Keith Schmitt May 30, 1969, at Manhattan. He died Aug. 17, 2006. Jeanne worked as an Extension Agent in Belleville, and then as dietician for the Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She retired as a secretary for Central Baptist Church, Great Bend. She was a Great Bend resident since 1978, coming from Hoisington where she had lived since 1969. She was a member of Hoisington First United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, and Clovia. Survivors include two sons: Allen Schmitt and wife Jamie of Lincoln, Neb. and Jason Schmitt and wife Aleksandra of Wichita; a brother, William E. Muret and wife Nancy of Winfield; a sister, Ann Wiles of Leoti; and four grandchildren: Caitlin Schmitt; Haley Zaiss; Trevor Schmitt; and, Zofia Schmitt. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at Hoisington First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Kris Brinlee officiating. Interment will be at Walnut Valley Cemetery in rural Barton County. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family to receive ffriends from 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday, Sept. 11 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
