James White, 97, died September 8, 2012 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born September 8, 1915 at Winfield, Kansas, the son of Frank L. and Zella Myrtle (Hutto) White. He married Opal Spittler January 2, 1937 at Wellington, Kansas. She died March 7, 2005. A Great Bend resident since 2008, coming from Anthony and Erie, Kansas, Mr. White was city superintendent for the City of Anthony. Mr. White was a member of the United Methodist Church, Anthony, a fifty-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Anthony, and a fifty-year member of Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons: Gary White and his wife Loretta, Louisville, Kentucky; and Arden White and his wife Sherry, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Joyce Boos and her husband Thomas, Great Bend; one sister, Zoa Berniece Manny, Winfield, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank E. White. Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Kansas. The Reverend Terry McGuire will officiate. Burial with Masonic Graveside Rites will be at Oxford Cemetery.
