H. Doug Chism, Jr., 46, died September 3, 2009 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born September 29, 1962, at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Hurvey Douglas, Sr. and Gladys Mae Brown Chism. Doug was a maintenance worker for the family business and previously for Dixon Rentals. He was a lifetime Great Bend resident. On May 5, 1991 he married Ambra "Amber" Wiley at Great Bend. She survives. Survivors include his wife Amber of the home; parents, Hurvey "Doug" Sr. and Gladys Chism of Great Bend; a daughter, Tomie of the home; two brothers, William Glenn Chism and wife Tammy and Paul Clifton Chism and fiance, Janice all of Great Bend and two grandchildren, Jesse Johnson and Justyna Johnson. Doug was preceded in death by a step-son, Jim Bob Johnson. Visitation will be on Friday, September 4, 2009 from Noon to 9:00 p.m. with family to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Franklin officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Hurvey Douglas Chism, Jr. Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
