Herman R. Farmer, 76, died July 3, 2010 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born January 31, 1934 at Compton, Arkansas, the son of Harley Porter and Susie Anna Becky (Brewer) Farmer. He married Henrietta M. Tauscher April 4, 1955 at Compton. She died April 29, 2003. A Hoisington, Kansas, resident since 1953, coming from Compton, Mr. Farmer owned and operated Jim's Tree Service, Hoisington. Survivors include one son, Richard S. Farmer, Galva, Kansas; three daughters: Elizabeth J. Boyd, Hoisington; Kathryn M. Scott, Hoisington; and Gloria S. Loomer, Sydney, Montana; one sister, Delphie Armer, Woodward, Oklahoma; two brothers: Melvin Farmer, Claflin, Kansas; and Gene Farmer, Larned, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and twenty-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Therman Eugene Farmer; two brothers, Lyman Farmer and Albert Farmer; one sister, Dorothy Bryant; and one grandson, Jeffrey Scott. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with Father Dwight Birket officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery, Hoisington. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Thursday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
