Hattie M. Beran, 84, died December 1, 2008 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born October 17, 1924 at Odin, Kansas, the daughter of Ferd and Louisa (Werner) Beran. Miss Beran was a retired registered nurse for St. Rose Hospital and C. B. Replogle, M. D. She was a resident of Great Bend since 1942, coming from Odin, Kansas. Miss Beran was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the Nursing Alumni Association. Survivors include one sister: Cecilia Bahr, Olmitz, Kansas; five nephews: Ken Beran, Hays, Kansas; Fred Johnson, Strasburg, Colorado; Jim Johnson, Great Bend, Kansas; Jim Johnson, Great Bend, Kansas; Bud Johnson, Larned, Kansas; and Leon Bahr, Olmitz, Kansas; five nieces: Judy Getty, Hays, Kansas; Karen Reif, Great Bend, Kansas; Mary Johnson, Great Bend, Kansas; Jane Brack, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Donita Wolf, Great Bend, Kansas; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers: Frank Beran, August Beran, and Roman Beran and three infants, Fred Beran, Victor Beran, and Alois Beran; and one sister: Hilda Johnson. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2008 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Reginald A. Urban will be celebrant. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.
