Grace M. Conard, 82, died May 3, 2014 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. Born September 11, 1931, in Waverly, she was the daughter of Mervin and Norma (Dawson) Estep. She married Harold Smith. The later divorced. She then married Jack Conard. They later divorced. A resident of Great Bend since 1970, coming from Larned, she was a housekeeper for Fuller Brush and Central Kansas Medical Center and worked as a cook at the American Legion Argonne Post 180, all of Great Bend. Mrs. Conard was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the Golden Belt Humane Society. Following her retirement, Mrs. Conard was involved with Pathways Rescare, Foster Grandparent for U.S.D. #428, and the First Assembly of God daycare. Survivors include two sons, Gordon Smith and his wife Trudy of Hutchinson, and Ivan Smith of Great Bend; three daughters, Connie Smith of Hays, Sharlene Marinhagen and her husband James of West Fall, and Jacqueline Curtis and her husband Jerritt of Topeka; six grandchildren, Jennifer Pinon, Stephanie Smith, Elizabeth Berens, Kelsie Keleher, Kira Curtis, and Madison Curtis; and six great-grandchildren. Ashley Plascjak, Nick Plascjak, Kyle Smith, Jeric Berens, Katelyn Berens, and Graham Keleher. She was preceded in death by her father, Mervin Estep; mother and step-father, William and Norma Clark; one son, Jackie Conard; and one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Harold Peats. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Larned Cemetery with Pastor Josh Foster officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Rosewood Services or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
