Gerald Duane "Jerry" Dundas, 82, died July 9, 2009 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born November 16, 1926 at Osage City, Kansas, the son of Ned and Ethel May (Hansen) Dundas. He married Alice M. Wedel October 10, 1954 at Moundridge, Kansas. A resident of Great Bend since 1959, coming from McPherson, Kansas, Mr. Dundas was a retired Unified School District 428 teacher, having taught at Roosevelt, Morrison, and Park Schools for thirty years. He retired in 1989. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II. Mr. Dundas was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180, BPOE Lodge #1127, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #646, Lake Barton Golf Course, Retired Teachers Association, life member of NEA, and the Barton County Historical Society. Survivors include his wife, Alice Dundas, Great Bend, Kansas; one sister, Janice Lou Boyd, Larned, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Robert Dundas; and one sister, Patricia Ann Frick. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. The Reverend Jeff Slater will officiate. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Trinity United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
