Gene A. Jones, 63, died July 2, 2010 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. He was born December 24, 1946 at Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Marvin and Mary (Clift) Jones. A Great Bend, Kansas, resident since 1996, coming from Hoisington, he was a truck driver for Bates Tank Service. Survivors include one sister, Wanda Converse, Council Grove, Kansas; and three nieces: Rebecca Carpenter, Topeka, Kansas; Vicky Baum, Odessa, Texas; Deborah Thomas, Pensacola, Florida; and one nephew, Tom Beard, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn Jones and Harold Jones; one sister, Elizabeth Bates; and one nephew, Cliff "Shorty" Bates. Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. The Reverend Dick Ogle will officiate. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
