Frieda Morgenstern, 100, passed away September 18, 2009 at Eugene, Oregon. She was born August 30, 1909 in Barton County, Kansas, to Emanuel and Mary Michaelis. She married Roland Morgenstern in 1933. He died in 1982. Their occupation included the Susank Grocery in Susank and the Cheyenne Lockers in Hoisington, until their retirement. Mrs. Morgenstern resided in Susank until 2006 when she moved to Eugene to be closer to her son. Mrs. Morgenstern was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Hoisington, Kansas. Survivors include one son, Larry, Eugene, Oregon; two sisters: Leona Heil, Phoenix, Arizona; and Irene Boxberger, Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother, Harold Michaelis, Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. One daughter, Joyce Kay Lowe, preceded her in death in 1994. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2009 at Hoisington Cemetery. Pastor Garry Dassow will officiate. The family suggests memorials to Concordia Lutheran Church, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
