Florence E. Steitz, 83, died August 25, 2008 at Colby Care Center, Colby, Kansas. She was born April 7, 1925 at Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Kraft) Steinert. She married Harold Steitz June 20, 1945 at Otis, Kansas. He died January 3, 1999. A Colby resident for the past thirty years, coming from Hays, Kansas, Mrs. Steitz was a homemaker. Mrs. Steitz was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed doing craft work. Survivors include one son, Kenneth D. Steitz and his wife, Mary, San Diego, California; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Wilhelm; and two brothers, Paul Steinert and Alvin Steinert. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with the Reverend Garry Dassow officiating. Inurnment will be in Hoisington Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids, in care of the funeral home.
