Fern Faye Nairn, 94, died Nov. 27, 2015, at home in Great Bend. Born Jan. 22, 1921, at Alexander, she was the daughter of William and Pearl (Allen) Boese.

Fern had married Leonard John Ellis, and then later married Loren R. Nairn. A 50 year resident of Great Bend, coming from Burdett, Fern had been a baker at the Holiday Inn, and worked in the housekeeping department at Central Kansas Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Jack Ellis of Ione, Calif.; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Georgia Schwartzkopf; five brothers, Wilbert Boese, Robert Boese, Norvel Boese, Elmer Boese, Vernon Boese; one sister, Viola Ellis; granddaughter, Michele Revell, and a great grandson, Brian Alan Legge.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Schumacher as officiant. Interment will be at Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, and 9 a.m. to service time, Saturday, Dec. 5, all at Bryant Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established for the Barton County Food Bank, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
