Evelyn L. Moore, 94, died May 5, 2011 at Holiday Resort, Salina, Kansas. She was born September 11, 1916 at McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Clear) Thacker. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in music performance. She was a long-time Great Bend resident, having taught at Jefferson Elementary School. Mrs. Moore was a member of First United Methodist Church and Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel, both of Great Bend. Survivors include two daughters: Kathleen Switzer and husband Dan, Houston, Texas; and Margaret Duell and husband Roger, Salina, Kansas; four grandchildren: Paul Switzer, David Green, Trevor Duell, and Aaron Duell; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Steffen. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Nancy Modin officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2011 and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the USD 428 Foundation, First United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Kansas, in care of the funeral home.
