Hoisington, KS Evelyn J. Higgins, 91, died March 19, 2008 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She was born September 2, 1916 at Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of Ralph M. and Martha (Schlegel) Plotner. Evelyn Plotner married Andrew Higgins August 16, 1938 at LaCrosse, KS. He preceded in death October 14, 1978. Evelyn was a retired postmaster at McCracken, KS and moved to Hoisington in 1996 from McCracken. Survivors include, two sons, Robert C. Higgins and wife, MaryBeth; Keith M. Higgins and wife, Beverly, both of Hoisington, KS.; daughter, Carolyn Sekavec and husband Jim, Hoisington, KS. Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Herdman; a brother, Harold R. Plotner; a sister, Luceil Plotner and a granddaughter, Sharolyn Herdman. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington with the Reverend Don Fischer presiding. Interment will follow in the McCracken City Cemetery, McCracken, KS. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm Friday and 9:00 am until service time Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
