Elwood L. "Woody" Doze, age 50, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his home in rural Hoisington, Kansas. He was born July 4, 1963 at Great Bend, Kansas the son of Robert and Florence (Clayton) Doze. Elwood graduated from Great Bend High School where he was a member of the FFA. He has been a Hoisington resident since 2002 coming from Medicine Lodge. He worked as a rancher and enjoyed roping and also rode in the Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty. On January 7, 1989 he married Phyllis Liebst at Medicine Lodge, Kansas. They later divorced. Survivors include his mother, Florence Doze of Hoisington; ex-wife, Phyllis Doze of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; one daughter, Victoria Doze of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; one son, Dewey Doze of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; two brothers, Denton Doze and wife Marcina of Hurley, Mississippi, Kenton Doze and wife Teri of Hoisington, Kansas; one sister, Rowena Clark of Stafford, Kansas. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Martin and Mary Doze and Harry and Blanche Clayton. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, Kansas with Chris Clark officiating. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Medicine Lodge FFA or the Elwood L.
