Elnora L. Steitz, 86, died November 16, 2009 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born January 2, 1923 east of Bison, Kansas, the daughter of George P. and Clara Scheuerman. She married Victor Steitz July 29, 1945 at Otis, Kansas. He died December 6, 1959. A resident of Great Bend since 2001, coming from Bison, Mrs. Steitz was an assistant cashier and bookkeeper for Bison State Bank for thirty years before her retirement in 1991. She also worked as the Bison City Clerk from 1989 to 1998. Mrs. Steitz was a member of Trinty Lutheran Church, Great Bend; and was formerly a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis. Survivors include two daughters: Vicki L. Anderson and husband Robert D., Great Bend, Kansas; and Linda K. Stone and husband Robert R., Topeka, Kansas; one brother, Gary N. Scheuerman, Garden City, Kansas; three grandchildren: Sheri Stone, Hays, Kansas; Heather Miessler and husband Ron, Seward, Kansas; and Traci Hockett and husband Lance, Abilene, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren: Kirsten N. and Kylee G. Miessler, both of Seward, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, George P. and Clara Scheuerman, and one brother, Glenn Scheuerman. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend. The Reverend James A. Strasen will officiate. Burial will be in Otis Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Sunflower Diversified Services or Trinity Lutheran Church,Great Bend, both in care of the funeral home.
