Elizabeth "Polly" Chubb, 86, died May 29, 2010 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood, Kansas. She was born April 9, 1924 at Tonkawa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Willis Paul and Edna Faye (Davis) Thomas. She married Lewis Orr Chubb April 3, 1942 at Great Bend, Kansas. He died June 10, 1995. A homemaker, Mrs. Chubb was a Great Bend resident since 1959, coming from Liberal. Mrs. Chubb was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and PEO Chapter FS, all of Great Bend. Survivors include two sons: J. Scott Chubb and wife Debra, Hoisington, Kansas; and Tom Chubb and wife Vicki, St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters: Crystal Chubb, Chicago, Illinois; and Sandy Hales and husband Ken, Bend, Oregon; one sister, Zella Mae Pecararo, Boston, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren: Brandi Apley and husband Aaron, Great Bend; Casey Lopez and husband Joe, Muscatine, Iowa; Spencer Christiansen, Olathe, Kansas; Hope Chubb, Hoisington, Kansas; Matt Chubb, St. Louis; Morgan Chubb, St. Louis; and Jack Chubb, St. Louis; two great-grandchildren: Slayde Apley and Joe Lopez III. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Jeffrey Slater will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels, or American Heart Association, all in care of the funeral home.
