Elga Weldon Wilkinson, 78, died July 9, 2007 at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson, Kansas. Elga was born on April 23, 1929 at Squires, Missouri, the son of John and Emily Plum Wilkinson. He was a resident of Great Bend since 1953 coming from Squires, Missouri. He was a heavy equipment operator for Stone Sand and Venture Corporation and worked for E-pox Poly until his retirement in 1994. Elga was a talented singer and guitarist and enjoyed writing poetry. On September 18, 1976 he married Eleanor C. Kramer Churchill at Great Bend. She survives. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of the home; four sons, Steve Wilkinson and wife Sharon of Hoisington, Scott Wilkinson and wife Maxine of Great Bend, John Wilkinson of Hutchinson and Richard Wilkinson of Garden City; one step-son, Jim Churchill and wife Rojean of Woodward, Oklahoma; three daughters, Diane Ramos, Teresa Hannaford and husband Dennis, Kimberly Mendez and husband Juan; two step-daughters, Linda Renfro and husband Willard and Cheryl Muth and husband Jim, all of Great Bend; three sisters, Retha Trent of Squires, Missouri, Gladys Turner of Kansas City, Missouri and Myrtle Hanoch of Midland Michigan; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Elga was preceded in death by a grandson, Grant Renfro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, Kansas with Pastor Don Paden officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 with family to receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Barton County Relay for Life or American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
