Eleanor Marie Hickel, 85, died May 6, 2008 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born April 28, 1923 at Odin, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Anna Kirmer Zorn. She married William Hickel September 28, 1941 at Odin. He died November 30, 1986. A lifetime resident of Barton County, Kansas, Mrs. Hickel worked for Suburban Cleaners for over twenty years. Mrs. Hickel was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Great Bend, and formerly was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, Kansas. Survivors include two daughters: Joyce Teichmann, Great Bend, Kansas; and Karen Hatfield, Manhattan, Kansas; five brothers: Leonard Zorn, Claflin, Kansas; Elmer Zorn, Hoisington, Kansas; Alvin Zorn, Smith Center, Kansas; Edwin Zorn, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Gerald Zorn, Great Bend, Kansas; four sisters, Matilda Schremmer, Hoisington, Kansas; Ann Schremmer, Hoisington, Kansas; Marion Schroeder, Newton, Kansas; and Helen Holliday, Inman, Kansas; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hickel was preceded in death by three brothers: Frank Zorn, Bernard Zorn, and Richard Zorn; and one sister: Margaret Steiner. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m., and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2008, both at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2008 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Floyd McKinney celebrant. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008 at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the funeral home.
