Elda M. Schroeder, 95, died February 21, 2012 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born November 20, 1916 in rural Pawnee County, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Gerdes) Hanken. She married Trois M. Schroeder October 2, 1940 at Albert, Kansas. He died December 24, 1987. A rural Albert resident most of her life, Mrs. Schroeder was a homemaker. Mrs. Schroeder was a member of King United Methodist Church, UMW, and volunteered at Central Kansas Medical Center. Survivors include one son: Troy Schroeder, Albert; one daughter, Jean Hanks and her husband Jim, Great Bend; four grandchildren: James Hanks III, Steve Schroeder, Tricia Young, and Tasha Schroeder; and five great-grandchildren: McKenna Hanks, Bradley Hanks, Brooke Schroeder, Kyle Schroeder, and Cole Schroeder. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Bowman. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. Pastor Scott Tempero will officiate. Burial will be in Albert Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Barton County Relay for Life or King Memorial United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
