Elda Jean Jordan, 78, of Wichita, beloved wife, mother and friend, ended her earthly sojourn to be with Jesus, her Lord and Saviour, on April 16, at Lakewood Senior Living Center in Wichita. She was born near Zenith, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Nellie (Lofland) Clothier, and was a resident of Great Bend most of her life. She married Robert Bob Jordan on September 3, 1949 at Wichita, Kansas. A member of the Church of Christ, Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker and had a daycare for more than 100 children over 35 years. Her passion was loving and nurturing her family and friends and she enjoyed crafts and oil painting. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and sweet spirit. She was preceded in death by son Randy Jordan; great-granddaughter Ali Espinosa; parents; five brothers, Millard, Evert, Homer, Orval and Bud Clothier and three sisters, Helen James, Wilma Renfro and Ila Sprouse. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include daughters Rita (Henry) McVay, and Rhonda (Jack) Wilson, both of Wichita; son Rob Jordan of Iola; grandchildren, Bree Downs, Randy McVay, Emily (Tanner) Norris, Molly (Chris) Malcom, Julia and Laura McVay, Jordan and Tara Wilson, Matt, Jeremy and Lindy Jordan and Rianne and Scout; great grandchildren, Chandler Downs, Mia McVay, Carly Espinosa, Mason and Audrey Norris and many special nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life and homecoming will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Burial follows at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 with family to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested for Maude Carpenter's Children Home or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Wichita, in care of the funeral home.
