Elaine H. Taylor, 85, died August 30, 2013 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born June 30, 1928 in Stafford County, Kansas, the daughter of Arther Jacob and Goldie (Gates) Hooper. On March 24, 1957 she married John Taylor at The Church in the Wildwood in Green Mountain Falls, CO. He survives. Elaine was a Great Bend resident most of her life, graduating from Great Bend High School in 1947. Mrs. Taylor worked for Strata Drilling Company as a secretary, and Taylor Toys and Gallery of Brides as a partner. Survivors include her husband, John Taylor, of the home; one sister, Carolyn Roberts, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; step-daughter, Peggy Taylor-Billings, Lawrence, Kansas; niece, Cheryl Pascoe, Denver, Colorado and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth Pascoe. Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend with the Rev. Phyllis Flory officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to Barton County Historical Society, in care of the funeral home.
