Elaine L. Johnson, 80, died January 12, 2012 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born March 21, 1931 at Alva, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Arthur and Lorinda L. (Mason) Lane. She married Harold Johnson December 21, 1947 at Alva. A Great Bend resident since 1999, coming from South Fork, Colorado, and Macksville, Kansas, Mrs. Johnson worked at the Larned Greenhouse and was a clerk for Food-4-Less and Dillons, Great Bend. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Great Bend. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, and enjoyed knitting, playing piano, visiting with family and friends, and especially enjoyed flowers. Survivors include her husband, Harold, of the home; one daughter, Jane Howard, Great Bend; and one grandson, Bart Howard and his wife Brooke, Las Vegas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by one son, James Jim Johnson; and one grandson, Mason Howard. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. The Reverend Hal Staats will officiate. Private family inurnment will be at Great Bend Cemetery North at a later date. Friends may call from noon to 9:00 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2012 and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Saturday, at Bryant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Elaine L. Johnson and Mason J. Howard Memorial Scholarship Fund at Great Bend High School, in care of the funeral home.
