Edward Kooi passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in Osage City, Kansas. Ed was born Nov. 19, 1930 at New York City, New York to Dirk and Mary (Bierman) Kooi. He made the Air Force his career, while stationed in Topeka he met and married Milda Dietz on August 13, 1967. She preceded in death August 10, 1996. They moved with his career and eventually settled in Arvada, Colorado. Later Ed and Milda moved to Lyndon, Kansas, and Ed worked for the Air National Guard in Topeka until his second retirement. Ed and Milda were active members of Grace Lutheran Church in Osage City. He is survived by four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dick and his wife. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Milberger Cemetery, Milberger, Kansas, with Rev. Amy Austin presiding. Military graveside rites by the VFW Post #7428 and American Legion Post #286 will be conducted.
