Dorothy Lee Schmidt, 48, died August 13, 2007 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. Dorothy was born January 6, 1959 at Post, Texas, the daughter of Domingo and Petra Luna Tijerina. On October 14, 1976, Dorothy married Ron Schmidt at Garden City, Kansas. He survives. Dorothy was a resident of Great Bend since 1989 coming from Dodge City, Kansas. She was a homemaker. She was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include a companion, Toby Leech of the home; five sons, Scott Schmidt of Norton, Ronnie Schmidt and wife Shara of Great Bend, Monte Schmidt and wife Misti of Enid, Oklahoma, Chancy Schmidt and wife Trina of Great Bend and Cody Schmidt of Hays; three daughters, Christie Tijerina & Victor Florez, Mistie Gomez and husband Pete and Lacy Schneweis and husband Blake all of Great Bend; four brothers, Bobby Luna of Iowa, Fernando Martinez of Hutchinson, John Martinez of Inman and Natch Carrasco of Great Bend; two sisters, Bertha Garcia of Crete, Nebraska and Debbie Martinez of Dodge City and sixteen grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Salas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2007 at Bryant Funeral Home with The Reverend Julie Shields officiating. Interment will be at the Golden Belt Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.
