Dorothy L. Scheideman, 76, died April 7, 2009 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born September 3, 1932 at rural Rush County, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Charlotte (Fyler) Renner. She married Kenneth Scheideman May 8, 1955 at LaCrosse, Kansas. He died August 7, 2002. A resident of Rush and Barton Counties for most of her life, Mrs. Scheideman was a telephone operator for thirty-eight years at LaCrosse, Great Bend, and Colorado Spring, Colorado, retiring from AT&T. Mrs. Scheideman was a member of First Christian Church, Great Bend, and the Telephone Pioneers. Survivors include one daughter: Linda K. Boyer and husband, William, Springfield, Massachusetts; one grandson, Jason Boyer, Springfield, Massachusetts; and one great-granddaughter, Leilah Boyer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Renner and Vernon Renner; and three sisters, Ruth Wilson, Alice MacArthur, and Barbara Nelson. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009 at First Christian Church, Great Bend. The Reverend William F. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in LaCrosse City Cemetery, LaCrosse at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to First Christian Church Building Fund or CKMC Foundation for the benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center, in care of the funeral home.
