Dorotha L. Surface, 83, died August 4, 2008 at Rush County Nursing Home, LaCrosse, Kansas. She was born January 25, 1925 at Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of William P. and Hallie M. (Lucky) Staley. She married Doyle F. Martin in 1952. He died October 22, 1959. She married Leroy Surface in May 1969. He died May 22, 1979. A homemaker, Mrs. Surface was a Hoisington, Kansas, resident since 1960, coming from Zurich, Kansas. Mrs. Surface was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hoisington; VFW Auxiliary Post #3111, Great Bend, Kansas; and Fraternal Order of Eagles #3061, Hays, Kansas. Survivors include three sons: Doyle A. Martin, Jacksonville, Florida; Sonny A. Martin, Hoisington, Kansas; and Dallas W. Martin, Midland, Texas; five grandchildren: Susan Clark, Stephanie Kelsey, John Martin, Adrianne Martin, and Arthur Mitchell Martin; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with the Reverend Ralph Jarboe officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2008 and from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
