Doris June Anthony, 71, died January 4, 2008 at Ellsworth Hospital, Ellsworth, Kansas. She was born July 21, 1936 at Dalhart, Texas, the daughter of James and Nancy Maudie Green Merwin. She married Miles E. Anthony in April 1956 at Great Bend, Kansas. He died December 31, 1984. She was a longtime Russell, Kansas, resident, and was a cook at the Russell's Inn. Mrs. Anthony was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Russell. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Thompson, Russell, Kansas; one son, John H. Anthony, Larned, Kansas; two brothers, Jerry Lee Merwin, El Dorado, Texas, and Donald Keith Merwin, Larned, Kansas; six grandchildren, John Anthony, Jeff Anthony, Jackie Anthony, Brandon Thompson, Tyler Thompson, and Kyle Thompson. She was preceded in death by a son, James Anthony; four brothers, Gene Merwin, Ernest Merwin, James Merwin, and Samuel Merwin; and one sister, Margie Richie. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Bryant Funeral Home. The Reverend Don Paden will officiate. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008, and 9:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home.
