Donald D. Smith, 85, died October 29, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. He was born September 16, 1925 at Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Callie (Payne) Smith. He married Etta Imogene Lumley June 5, 1953 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She died October 9, 2004. A Hoisington resident, moving to Osawatomie, Kansas, in 2004, Mr. Smith was retired heavy equipment operator for Kansas Brick and Tile, Hoisington. Mr. Smith was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hoisington. Survivors include one son, M. D. Smith, Osawatomie, Kansas; one daughter, Janice Oelschlaeger, Lawrence, Kansas; one brohter, LeRoy Smith, Hoisington; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. The Reverend Kris Brinlee will officiate. Burial with military flag presentation by VFW Post 7428 and American Legion Post 286 will be in Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Life Care Center, Olathe, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
