Donald K. Kirkman, 54, died September 30, 2007 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. Don was born September 30, 1953, at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of K. W. "Pete" and Dolores M. Murphy Kirkman. He was a farmer and cattleman. Don was a lifetime resident of Great Bend. He married Sandy Milhon in Great Bend. He later married Karla Sparkman Baldwin in Great Bend. She survives. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Kansas Livestock Association, Kansas State Alumni Association, on the board of directors of Straub International and a former member of the board of directors of Great Bend Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Karla of the home; four sons, Dustin Kirkman of Wichita, Tracy Baldwin and wife, Heather of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Aaron Baldwin and wife, Jamie of Great Bend, and Richard Baldwin, and wife Candie of Great Bend; one daughter, Ashley Baldwin of Great Bend; one brother Roger Murphy and wife, Mary Lou of Great Bend; one sister, Jill Eliason and husband, Dan of Overland Park, Kansas, an aunt Margaret Miller of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Erika, Brantley, Annah, Derion, and Dakota; his best friend and faithful companion, Bear. Don was preceded in death by his parents, K. W. "Pete" Kirkman and Dolores Murphy Kirkman and a brother, Joseph Douglas Kirkman. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. A Vigil Service will be at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Bryant Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Interment will be in Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to Future Farmers of America or Holy Family School Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home.
