Donald Joe Smith, 63, died December 31, 2006 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born the son of Galen and Bernice Moyer Smith on April 8, 1943 at Great Bend, Kansas. He married Janice Dorothy Gordier in May 1996 at Denver, Colorado. He worked in the oilfield and was a truck driver. Mr. Smith was a resident of Great Bend since 1997, coming from Denver. Survivors include his wife, Janice; one son, Donald "Donnie" Smith of California; one daughter, Bridgette of California; thre step-sons, Paul Gordier, Mark Gordier, and Joseph Gordier; one step-daughter, Wendy Gordier; two brothers, Robert Smith, Parker, Colorado, and Stephen Smith, Brighton, Colorado; two sisters, Mary Jane Runnels, Arizona, and Sherry Homad, Wenatchee, Washington; two grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Dixon. There will be no visitation or services as cremation has been effected.
