Dixie M. Ewert, 81, died November 21, 2008 at her residence. She was born March 12, 1927 at Marionville, Missouri, the daughter of Buel and Mattie (Bastin) Bledsoe. She married Howard D. "Sleepy" Ewert May 10, 1947 at Wichita, Kansas. He died January 11, 2004. Mrs. Ewert was a member of First United Methodist Church, TOPS, and Wagon Wheel Card Club, all of Great Bend, Kansas. Survivors include one son, Mike D. Ewert and wife, Aprile, Joplin, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Heitland, Ferguson, Missouri; three grandchildren: Chris Heitland, Jessica Heitland, and Hannah Ewert; and three great-grandchildren: Skyler Heitland, Kendyl Heitland, and Reilly Dierdag. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Wallace Bledsoe and Buel Bledsoe, Jr.; and one sister, Dorothy Giggy. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Brooks officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home.
