David C. May, 54, died May 4, 2007, at his rural Great Bend home. He was born June 3, 1952 at Redbud, Illinois, the son of Vernon and Shirley R. Rodenberg May. On May 24, 1975 he married Karla S. Sprehe at Elmhurst, Illinois. She survives. He was an assistant general manager for Pratt Feeders, Pratt, Kansas. He was a resident of Great Bend since 1993 coming from Salina, Kansas. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Waterloo, Illinois, The American Quarter Horse Association, The Kansas Quarter Horse Association and the University of Illinois Alumni Association. Survivors include: his wife, Karla, of the home; a daughter, Stephanie Davey of Delray Beach, Florida; his mother, Shirley May of Waterloo, Illinois; a brother, Daniel May of Colorado; three sisters, Lyn May of Waterloo, Illinois, Donna Underwood of Monticello, Illinois, and Joann Steppig of Waterloo, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon May and a sister, Sandra May. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2007 at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, Kansas with the Reverend Hal Staats officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family to receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Barton County Humane Society or Donor's Choice in care of the funeral home.
