Darrel Dunekack, 74, died January 21, 2013 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood, Kansas. He was born November 11, 1938 at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Wilbur Henry and Vera Anita Faye (Otte) Dunekack. He married Anne Preston October 24, 1965 at Great Bend. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mr. Dunekack worked for Natural Gas Pipeline and was a farmer. He enjoyed farming and gardening and in his younger days enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served in the National Guard. Mr. Dunekack was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend. Survivors include his wife, Anne Dunekack, of the home; two sons: Michael Dunekack and his wife Tatum, Great Bend; and David Dunekack, Great Bend; two sisters: Delores Foulke and her husband Roger, Lewisville, Texas; and Linda Shull, Great Bend; one brother, Larry Dunekack and his wife Linda, Pittsburg, Kansas; two grandchildren: Camryn Dunekack and Cal Dunekack; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend James A. Strasen officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery North. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Sister Aquinata Penka Nursing Scholarship, in care of the funeral home.
