Darlene Ashbaugh, 60, died February 11, 2009 at her Great Bend, Kansas, residence. She was given the gift of life September 7, 1948 at Quinter, Kansas, the daughter of Emald Lee and Teresa Elizabeth (Bieker) Ashbaugh. She was a homemaker, residing in Great Bend for two years, coming from Hays, Kansas. Ms. Ashbaugh was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Great Bend. Survivors include her companion, John Kepka, Great Bend, Kansas; her mother, Teresa Ashbaugh, Quinter, Kansas; one son, Manuel Lee Ashbaugh, Jacksonville, Florida; one daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Roberts, Park, Kansas; six brothers: Mike Ashbaugh, Hays, Kansas; Jimmy Ashbaugh, Park, Kansas; John Ashbaugh, Hoxie, Kansas; Alex Ashbaugh, Hays, Kansas; Joe Ashbaugh, Hays, Kansas; and Ronnie Ashbaugh, Melrose, New Mexico; four sisters: Dorothy Schwindt, Park, Kansas; Patty Myers, Melrose, New Mexico; Diana Ashbaugh, Oakley, Kansas; and Kathy Cunningham, Schyuler, Nebraska; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Veronica Brown. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 16, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home.
